About Tim

Trained as a painter, shaped by glass

Art Center College of Design
Trained in traditional drawing and painting in Pasadena, CA.
7 Years
Worked as a figurative oil painter and muralist.
2003
Discovered stained glass on a tour of Judson Studios in Los Angeles — and was immediately hooked.
14 Years
Served as Creative Director at Judson Studios, mastering traditional technique alongside contemporary glass methods.
2018
Left Judson Studios to found Tim Carey Studio in South Pasadena, CA.
2026
Launched Carey Stained Glass to grow the studio's stained and leaded glass client base.

Tim Carey was trained in traditional drawing and painting at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, and spent the first seven years of his career as a figurative oil painter and muralist. He discovered stained glass on a tour of Judson Studios in Los Angeles in 2003 and was immediately hooked. Carey quickly became the creative director at Judson Studios, spending fourteen years there mastering traditional technique as well as exploring contemporary glass methodologies.

Tim left Judson Studios in 2018 to start Tim Carey Studio in South Pasadena, CA. Taking on projects of all sizes, Tim and his team are devoted to beautifying spaces of all kinds using glass and light. Whether a small residential accent window, a painted church window, or a large public installation, the studio strives for excellence and artisanship of the highest quality, backed by pointed and professional customer service.
